WordPress Training: Saving and Returning To Draft Posts and pages

If you’re writing a post, and decide that you’d like to come back to it another time, rather than publishing right away you can save your content as a draft. In the main post editor, if you’re working on a new post and want to take a break, just click on Save Draft over here. You’ll now be able to access the post from the Posts > Edit view dashboard, in the Recent Drafts box click through to the post were working on and you can pick up where you left off. And when you’re ready to go live, hit the big, blue publish button and you’re on!

To change the status of an existing post, maybe from “published” to “draft” just click here on Edit next to status, and choose the option that suits your needs. The good news is that if you do forget to save, and we make that pretty hard, WordPress Auto-Saves your drafts for you automatically. Exactly the same goes for writing and editing Pages which can be accessed from the Pages menu either as Write New, or Edit, just as with the posts. So that’s saving and continuing with drafts.
