Day 5 -The Design
Welcome Back!
Welcome to day 5 and its time to get all dressed up!
Today we’re going to focus on the design of your web site.
The most important element of the design will be based on the web site plan I have mentioned throughout this course. Hopefully you’ve done your homework and have all the content, pictures and graphics you would like on your site.
While your final layout will be dependent on the pre-set design chosen, you should do a preliminary “mock up” to get some idea of what type of layout you want.

Where do I find these designs?
We have created a Design Resource page on our site at: http://buildmysiteforfree.com/wordpress-themes
You can browse through a large selection of designs to choose from. Some are free and some require payment.
How do I install my Chosen Design?
In WordPress go to your dashboard in your administrative sign in: http://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin. Sign in with the user name and password you chose. On the left side click on “Appearance” then click on
“Add New Themes”
Now chose the “upload” option and make sure you are uploading your themes in a “zip” file. Upload the theme and it will be added to your existing themes.
IMPORTANT: Your theme is NOT installed until you activate it in the Themes area. After you upload it and you get the “uploaded successfully” message, you will see it displayed in the Themes area.
Note that you can Activate, Preview or Delete it there. You can preview it to see how everything will look. If you like the way it looks you can activate it.
Congrats!
You now have a design for your site. There are lots of other features you can add too. We’ll talk about those in later emails. But for now take the night off, put your feet up and celebrate!
