1. How do I Register and Set up DNS for your Domain Name?
First you need a web host. If you do not have a web host skip to section 2 below. If you already have a web host then continue here:
Contact your web host and find out the DNS information for your website registration.
So you’ve now come up with some names for your web site. If you have a highly unique name registration might be a quick and easy task however if your name is already taken you will need to keep checking until you get one that is available. If you’re not sure which one you like better and more than one is available you may want to register more than one name.
Also most people recommend that you only use .com addresses but there are .net, .org, .info, .mobi (mobile phone web sites) and lots more. Some people think you should register your name in .com, .net and .org as well as variations on your name. For example mortgageloans.com might also be registered as mortgage-loans.com.
For now I would recommend that you just register one or two names. You can always go back later and register more if you like.
Domain registration costs range from $10 and up per year per name, depending on the Domain Registrar you use. I’ll give you some places to go to register your name shortly.
2. Need a Web Host?
You will need to have a place to set up your web site. This is called your web host as it is the computer server that houses your website.
If you do not have a web host there are lots to choose from. But you must be very careful that you choose the right host. You don’t want your website to be “down” when you could be making money.
Therefore you want to make sure you have a strong and reliable host. You should look for one that is well capitalized and will not be at risk of going out of business. There are many hosts to choose from and it’s hard to know how to find the best ones.

I already have a Web Host—I just want to set up my Website—what do I do?
First, If you have a web host already then you can register a domain name at GoDaddy.com by going to BuildMySiteforFree.com/domainregistration
Next you will need to check with your web host as you will need a web host with MySql database software.
In addition to the Site Builder software we will provide you will need some, graphics (pictures and images), an ftp program and your website content/information.
We’re going to use a program called WordPress.
What is WordPress?
WordPress is a web publishing application and can be used for basic content management. It’s a free modular software program which makes it easy to upgrade and change without being a technical wizard.
You can also design your website in html, php and many other program languages however we have found WordPress to be the easiest and best for Small Business.
What if I am selling Products?
If you have chosen to sign up with BlueHost then a shopping cart is included with your account at no additional charge.
