How to Use Text Widgets
Hi, guys. Welcome to BuildMySiteForFree.com. Today’s tutorial is about using text widgets. And text widgets are different from the rest of the widgets you may know of, and the reason being is it gives you the option to actually display an image on your sidebar or widget area, insert any text that you want. So a lot of people use it to insert a short biography of themselves
with a picture.
Some people just insert a picture. You could pretty much add whatever you want in this specific text widget. And the way to go about it is the same way as you would any widget, and you want to scroll down to Appearance on your navigation menu. Open the sub-menu up and click the Widgets link, and it’ll bring you to this page – your widgets page.
And you, once again, go about it the same way. You want to click on the bottom where it says, “Text.” You find that in your available widget box, and you just drag it and drop it, and you will notice a box opens up where you insert a title. And then in this textbox right here, you can
insert any text or an HTML code to enter a hyerlink or image file, and I will open it up on this page. I’ve already copied and pasted what I wanted. So what did was I insert the title “Happy Summer.”
I think insert a bit of text:“Happy Summer to all of my bloggers.” And then what I did was I inserted the URL, but what I have to do in order for it to show up on my blog is insert an HTML code. And what I did by doing this is I’m going to highlight it. I did an arrow with Img_src, and the equal sign in front of the code. Well, the actual URL. And then I insert a backwards arrow right here at the end of the URL link.
One thing I will mention, though, is you cannot include codes such as PHP or Javascript. It won’t work. But this one is a specific URL to an image file, so it’s going to work. And once I’m officially done and I save my changes, I’m going to come over to my blog. And as I scroll down, you’ll see what I just added. So we have my title with the text that I inserted, and then we have the pretty picture of the beach.
And this is how you go about adding a text widget. Thank you for watching.
