How to Upgrade Your Version of WordPress

Hi and welcome to BuildMySiteForFree.com. Today I’m going to be showing you how to upgrade your version of WordPress. Now before I do this I do want to mention that prior to upgrading you should always make sure that you have backed up you entire site. This includes all of your site files such as themes and plugins as well as your database. If you do have installed plugins and themes it is always possible that certain of these plugins and themes may not work properly with your newer version of WordPress. These instances are very rare, but it is possible that it could happen so this is why you just always want to make sure you backed up everything first.

And after you’ve done that you are ready to upgrade your WordPress. And what’s great is it always tells you when one is available. As you can see right here it shows you what version is available, and it also shows it over here on the navigation menu that you have an update available. So you can go to either of these two spots to update your WordPress. And what I’m going to do is just go right over here, where it says “please update now” and I’m going to click that, and it takes a second but your WordPress has been updated and what you can do when you get to this is it will say you can update automatically or download the package installed manually. What you just want to do is go update automatically, and here you’ll see that it will be updating the database your latest version all unpacked files and once you’ve seen right here that it says WordPress updated successfully, you know that your version of WordPress has been updated and thank you our video. This is how you update your WordPress.
