How to Set Your Privacy Options in WordPress

Hi guys, welcome to BuildMySiteForFree.com. The video that I have for you today is going to be very short, and I’m just going to explain to you what the privacy settings mean for WordPress. So the first thing you’re going to do is open up the ‘Settings’ submenu on the navigations menu. And you’re going to scroll down and click the ‘Privacy’ link. Which will bring you to your privacy settings page. As now as you can see there are only two options to choose from, and both of these options are going to be who is viewing your blog.

So, by default, the first one is always chosen. And this is allowing everyone to view your blog site. This includes search engines, and it also includes archivers. So if you don’t mind your blog showing up in search engines or even in blog archiver services then you will go ahead and choose this option. If by some chance you don’t want your blog coming up in search results or even archives. You just really don’t want that exposure, you’ll go ahead and you’ll click this link and that will be blocking all search engines but it will only allow normal visitors.

And then once you’re done you always want to save your changes and one thing I do want to point out is that if you do choose to block search engines and only allow normal visitors, after you have saved your changes on your dashboard it will come up right next to your WordPress blog name: “search engines blocked.” So it’s always a reminder for you and if you ever do want to change it you can go back and do so just like I just showed you and this will then disappear.

And this is our video on what the privacy settings mean on WordPress. Thank you for watching.
