How to Schedule a Post on WordPress

Hi everyone, welcome to BuildMySiteForFree.com. In today’s tutorial, I’m just going to show you how to schedule a post. And what’s so great about being able to schedule a post is there are sometimes we are not available or have the time to create and publish posts every single day. We might be on vacation , we might have family emergencies, we might just need to take a week off and we don’t have time to keep logging onto our computer and publishing posts so what’s so great about being able to schedule a post is you can create the post ahead of time, schedule it for a particular date that you know you won’t be available, and that post will automatically post the day that you scheduled it for.

So I actually think it’s a really great feature. So, what you want to do is come down to your post page on your navigation menu and you want to click ‘Add New.’ And this will bring you to the Add New Post page, so you go about doing what you always do with a post, you’re going to enter a title, and then of course anything that you’re going to write about in your text box. And of course, you can do the same thing, like insert pictures, and audio and video, you can even select categories for them. Anything that you want this post to contain you want to do ahead of time.

The only difference is, instead of publishing it right here, what we’re going to do is schedule it for another date. So you’re going to come over here to this ‘publish’ box and instead of publishing it and keeping it where it says publish immediately we’re going to click this little blue underline button where it says ‘Edit, ’ and all we have to do is change the date, year and time. So if I just want this to be scheduled
next week, but I don’t care what time it’s at, all I’ll do is I’ll keep it for August, I’ll change it to August. I’ll make it for maybe like August second, I’m gonna keep the year and I’ll  just keep the time that it is right now.

Once I’m done I want to click ‘ok’ and then I will  click ‘Schedule.’ So everything I just created was saved. It just hasn’t been published yet. So, now if I come over to our post page with the list of all the posts we’ve created and I refresh it, you will notice now our ‘Getting Started
with WordPress’ post that I just created instead of being under the status published, it will say scheduled. And the date that you scheduled it for. And you can go back at anytime before this and edit the information if you want to be scheduled earlier or a little later than that date.

.And this is our video on how to schedule a post. Thank you for watching.
