Hi, everyone! Welcome to BuildMySiteForFree.com. In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to install and use the plugin Google Adsense, and people use this plugin as a way to monetize their blog, as a way to make a little bit of money. These ads will show up on your blog. First, I’m going to show you how to find and install the plugin. Then, I’ll show you how
to set up some of your options. Then we can check out how it will look on our blog site.

First what you want to do is come to BuildMySiteForFree.com, and when you click this link right here at the top right hand corner that says
plugins, you’ll be brought to a directory of all WordPress plugins that you can install for free on this site. I’m already at this page. What you want to do is find the Google Adsense. They’re all alphabetical order, so it’s not very hard. The first thing you want to do, of course, is download it. Here I have the Google Adsense Now! plugin. You want to first download it. When you click download now, it’s going to bring you to this page whereas most plugins, you will find a bit of a description of what that plugin is all about. Over here on the right hand side you will find the version, what the plugin has to be compatible to work on WordPress, as well as when it was last updated and how many downloads that have been downloaded over a certain period of time.

What you want to do from here now, after you have checked everything out and decided that you do want to install this onto your computer,
you want to click this download version button. You want to make sure that you always save it as a zip file. So if you do have a Mac, which is what I am using, you want to double click, and scroll down to where it says download linked file as. Then you want to, of course, save it as a zip file. It should come up that way after you click download file as. Then you want to click save. I already installed this on my computer, so I’m not going to save it, but I wanted to show you this. So I’m just going to click cancel.

Once you’ve saved, you want to come back to your dashboard. You want to open up where it says plugins, and you want to click where it says Add New. Since you already have it downloaded to your computer, you just need to upload it now on your WordPress blog. Click upload right here, and then you would just choose the file from where you saved it. Then you click install now. If you did everything right, it will be installed successfully, and you will now have Adsense Now!

If you want to go to the page where you can set some of your options, you want to come over to Settings on your navigation menu. Since you
just installed it, you will have a link to the Adsense Now! settings page. You want to click that link, and it will bring you to the setup page. Here there is just a few options you can choose from. They do give you some links to find some easy steps to set it up, some FAQ questions that people ask, but what you can also do is actually add blocks in your posts by inserting a text right here. Then, of course, you want to choose your alignment for the ad. You want to decide where you want it shown on your blog. You can choose to have it all align to the left. You can have it to the center. You can even have it to the right. You can switch it up and have them maybe look like this. You want to first choose your alignment for your ads.

Then, they always do this. You can donate money to the author of the plugin, so depending on what percentage you choose, a percentage
of the ad spots will be shared with them.

Lastly, you have the option to choose what pages you don’t want ads on. So, for instance, if I don’t want ads on my front page, I’m going
to check off that box. If I want them on the rest, I leave them empty.

Officially, what you want to do at the end is, of course, save you changes or nothing that you just did will be saved. Now, if we go ahead and look at our blog, this is our front page, and if you remember, I checked the box that I wanted the ads suppressed from this page. I don’t want
them to appear, but if I go click on our About Us at Buildmysiteforfree.com page, you will now notice that here are all the ads aligned to the left, like I wanted. They’re on this page, and on every other link they will appear here as well.
