Hi everyone, welcome to BuildMySiteForFree.com. Today I’m going to be showing you how to add a new user to your blog. Now many of you know that users have different roles and duties on your blog. You can be a user that’s only a subscriber. You can be a contributor, an author, an editor, or even an administrator. Now to go about adding a new user and establishing a role for them what you wanna do is come down to the users link on your navigation menu. After you’ve opened up the submenu, you’re going to want to click the second option that says ‘Add New.’ And by doing this you will be brought to the Add New User page and here there are several options you have to fill out before you go ahead and add them. And what I’m gonna do is walk you through what each one of them means. And

As you can see here I’ve entered a hypothetical user for the purpose of this example and first up here we have our user name and email. And on both of these entries are required in order for you to add them as a user. So your user name is going to be the logging name they use when logging into their account and the email address is going to be the one that they registered with.

Then next you have the option to enter their first and last name, but you can also go ahead and leave that blank. And then you want to enter the website that they were going to be blogging on. So if you’re the administrator what you’re going to want to do is of course, enter your blog website. Then next you want to create a password for them, which you will enter twice. And whether or not it’s weak or strong it will tell you here on this password indicator.

Next, what you could do if you’d like to send them their password to their email you will check off this box right here and an email will be sent to them containing the password that you’ve created.

And then your last choice is to select a role for them. So depending on the duties you want them to have on your blog, you will open up the drop-down menu and choose which one you want them to have. And here I’m just going to click and select them to be author.

Now, of course, the last thing you want to do is click ‘Add New User’ and this will officially add them to your blog. And once you have done this it will send them, uh, a confirmation email and what they need to do next is confirm that they’ve gotten the email and once they have done that they are ready and set to start blogging.

And just the last thing I would like to show you is if you’re on your users page with the list of users you currently have, you will notice we have the one that I just entered. So you’ll see the user name, their name, their email and the role that they are. And once they’ve started adding posts you will also see the amount of posts that they have added. And on this page you also have the option to view, edit and delete any of the users at any time.
