How to Install and Use Subscribe to Comments on WordPress

Hi, everyone! Welcome to BuildMySiteForFree.com. In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to install and use the plugin subscribe to comments. Now, the point of this plugin is to basically have a live discussion on your blog, so what happens after you’ve installed the plugin is your readers can actually subscribe to individual comment threads on your blog. Then other  users can keep commenting back and forth. It basically has a discussion on your blog. What happens for you is you will be notified every time a new comment has been left in a particular thread of a post that you have created. You can also follow along with the discussion. In this video, I am going to show you the two ways to install the plugin. Then, I’m also going to show you the subscribe to
comments setting options page.

So, first what you want to do is come to your navigation menu, and open up plugins link on the navigation menu. You want to scroll down
to where it says Add New. This will bring you to the install plugins page. What you want to do here is just type in “subscribe to comments” and then search for the plugin. It’s going to be the very first one that comes up. Mine is already installed for the purpose of this video, but what you can do – it will say right here install now next to the plugin. You just install it and activate it from right there. It’s very simple, very easy, and you can do it all right here from your account.

Another way you can do it is come to BuildMySiteForFree.com and you can click the plugins link right here in the top right hand corner. They are all listed in alphabetical order. Once you’ve found it, right here, Subscribe to Comments. You will click download now. It’s going to bring you to  the WordPress plugin directory for this particular plugin. So, what you want to do from here, you will click download version, but you want to do actually is make sure that you save it as a zip file. You may want to click download linked file as, show.zip. Then you just want to save it. Now, you come to the install plugins page, and what you want to do is click upload. You should always remember where you have actually saved the plugin, so right here I already have  it in my documents. I would upload it from here where it says subscribe to comments. I choose that, and it will upload to my computer. So, that’s another way to install the plugin.

Now, the next thing I do want to show you is the options page for subscribe to comments. So what you want to do is come to the settings
link on your navigation. Scroll down to the new link that has just been added, subscribe to comments. This will bring you to the subscribe to comments options page. From here, it’s pretty much already filled in for you. There’s no need to change it. It will work exactly how it’s already setup, but if you want to change some of your options as far as the comment form text, you can type in specific messages to people or are subscribed or not subscribed. If you want to custom style your subscription, you can just choose some of these options here. Of course, what you want to do is update your options at the end.

Now, lastly I just want to show you how this works. I have logged in as a different user on my SpeedDaddy.blog account. What you do is you
fill in your information and type in your comment to the post here. Now, since you have subscribed to comments, what you want to do is click here. Notice it says notify me of followup comments via email. So, every time someone writes a comment to your comment, you will also get an email for it. You can continue to write back if you desire and start the discussion.

This is how you use the plugin subscribe to comments. Please stay tuned for more videos on BuildMySiteForFree.com. Thank you.
